Well I wanted to make it a single speed so I took of my chain guide and deraileur and then took off a couple of links with my chain breaker and put it all back together to see if it worked without havig to get a chain tensioner and it did. The chain was surprisingly the perfect size. It works just as good without the chain tensioner.
